THANK YOU FROM ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY

We thank all those who have supported our endeavors during the year to assist those in need. When others ask what activities we rely upon for funds. We quietly and humbly inform them that you, our parishioners provide for our needs with food and monetary donations.

Our "Poor Boxes" in the Church receive small change, like the widow's mite in the Gospels, and paper money of all denominations. Also, many include us during the death of a loved one in lieu of flowers.

During the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons, you have always supported our requests for food and gifts. The U.S. postal employees include our Society on Mother's Day with their food collection. And this year we applied for and received a grant of $600 from the Framingham Hospital Aid Society for medical assistance to our clients.

In 2009, we received donations in the amount of $8,775, and we spent $11,157. We helped one person with moving assistance, 362 with food, 21 with furniture, 63 with clothing, one with rent, two with funerals, 17 with hospitals, 60 with elder care, 4 with medical help, 60 with the transition from prison into halfway houses, and a police officer shot in the line of duty. We made 480 home visits during the year.

Thank you again for your faithful and caring support!

Date for Parish Picnic Set ‑ We will get together for our annual Parish Picnic at Hopkinton State Park on Saturday, July 10th, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Everyone had a wonderful time last year, so please mark the date on your calendar and plan to join us. Our annual Family Day celebration on the Parish grounds will take place in August, and more details will appear in a future bulletin.

"Who do the crowds say that I am?" They said in reply, "John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, 'One of the ancient prophets has arisen.'" Then he said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter said in reply, "The Christ of God." - Lk 9:18b-20

Clergy Benefit Trust ‑ The second collection on June 12th and 13th is for the health care and retirement benefits for our priests. Currently, there are 737 priests who rely on this trust to provide for their health care, and another 267 senior priests who also rely on the fund for retirement benefits. Keeping this fund stable in the future is critical, and we invite your usual generosity in expressing thanks to all those priests who have served your needs over the years.

New CDs Available in Foyer of Church ‑ If you want to strengthen your knowledge of the Catholic Faith, we invite you to purchase some of the CDs on the rack at the back of the Church.
